The Schneider Museum of Art welcomes private events and rentals and is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for guests, staff, and the artwork. To help protect the museum, its collection, and everyone attending your event, all event organizers, vendors, staff, and guests are expected to follow the guidelines below.
General Security & Safety Guidelines
- Artwork must not be touched, moved, leaned against, or used as a surface for any purpose.
- Maintain a minimum distance of two feet from all artwork, pedestals, display cases, and installations.
- Do not attach, tape, pin, hang, or otherwise affix decorations or materials to artwork, walls, ceilings, doors, or museum fixtures without prior approval from museum staff.
- Food and beverages are permitted only in designated areas approved for event use. Food and beverages may not be placed near artwork or in areas where they could pose a risk to the collection.
- All catering, vendors, rentals, decorations, and event equipment must be approved in advance by the museum.
- Open flames, candles, fog machines, smoke effects, and other potentially hazardous materials or equipment are prohibited unless specifically approved in advance by the museum.
- Event guests must remain within the areas designated for the rental. Restricted areas, staff spaces, offices, storage areas, and other non-event spaces are off-limits.
- Doors, exits, hallways, fire extinguishers, electrical panels, and other emergency equipment must remain unobstructed at all times.
- Running, rough play, or other activities that could endanger guests, staff, artwork, or museum property are not permitted.
- Event organizers are responsible for the behavior and supervision of their guests, vendors, and contractors throughout the event.
- Museum staff must be notified immediately of any accident, injury, damage, spill, security concern, or other incident involving the museum or its property.
- Museum staff may intervene when necessary to protect artwork, museum property, or the safety of guests and staff.
- The museum reserves the right to stop an activity or ask an individual or group to leave if their behavior presents a safety or security concern or violates the terms of the rental agreement.
Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency, event organizers and guests must follow the directions of Schneider Museum of Art staff. Emergency exits and evacuation routes must remain accessible throughout the event.
