Schneider Museum of Art Facility Rentals

The Museum considers requests to rent its facility on a case-by-case basis, with artwork security as our primary priority. Outside rentals are limited to a maximum capacity of 100 attendees.

Renter Requirements

• Insurance: Provide a certificate of liability insurance ($4,000,000) naming Southern Oregon University as an additional insured, including a rider for alcohol use if applicable.

• Caterer: Use Elior, the campus caterer, if refreshments and linens are needed. The SMA is not able to provide linens for events.

• Staffing: Provide sufficient staffing for your event, including setup and cleanup (note: Museum guards cannot serve as event staff).

• Alcohol Approval: Obtain university approval for wine or beer use and provide OLCC-licensed servers. Email Lisa Sherrill at sherrill@sou.edu to obtain approval.

• Guidelines: Ensure all guests adhere to Event Rental Security Guidelines.

Facility Rental Fees

(Standard rates cover up to a 4-hour rental, including setup and cleanup time)

*Co-sponsorship is available to non-SOU groups affiliated with an SOU department or club. The outside group holds financial responsibility, but the SOU sponsor assumes liability in case of default. The SOU co-sponsor must be present for pre-event meetings, copied on correspondence, and in attendance for the full event.

Additional Required Fees

• Cleaning Fee: $200 per event

• Museum Security: $30/hour per guard (minimum 3 museum-trained guards required for setup, event duration, and cleanup)

• After-Hours Fee: $100/hour for events occurring after 5:00 PM

• Overtime Fee: $150/hour for events exceeding 4 hours (includes setup and cleanup time)

Additional Optional Fees

• Parking: $75 Lots 12 & 19

• 8-Foot Rectangular Table: $15 each (5 available)

• Black Resin Folding Chairs: $5 each (40 available)

• Cocktail Table: $20 each (4 available)

• Wooden Bar: $75 (1 available)

Four to six Exhibitions are planned per year, and are scheduled a year in advance. Proposals will be kept on file for future consideration.
