Join the Schneider Museum of Art for a dynamic, hands-on drawing workshop led by artist Élan Chardin G.

In this fast-paced, 3.5-hour workshop, participants of all skill levels will explore fresh approaches to drawing from observation. Working with a clothed model, mirrors, and props, we will experiment with ways to transform observation into new visual possibilities through revision, collage, and imaginative re-interpretation. Along the way, we’ll draw inspiration from contemporary artists, reflect on our own work, and generate ideas together as a group.

This workshop is designed for both SMA members and SOU students—perfect for anyone curious about expanding their creative practice. Space is limited to 12 participants to ensure a supportive and engaging experience.

All supplies will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a snack or brown bag lunch.

No advanced drawing skills required—just a basic comfort with materials and a willingness to experiment.

About Élan Chardin G

Élan Chardin G is a visual artist living in Southern Oregon. Her artworks range in scale from large, sculptural paintings to more intimate forms. She interweaves the languages of painting and drawing as well as the written word. She employs immediacy and intuitive approaches to material and mark making to imagine physical forms that reflect our inner worlds and notions of embodiment and perception. Her writing is autobiographical and explores the interplay between the conscious and unconscious, the rational and emotional, challenging the hierarchical prioritizations and value of certain kinds of knowledge over others. Élan teaches at Southern Oregon University.
