Exhibition Statement

The SMA, in conjunction with the SOU Women’s Studies department, presented an international exhibition of works by female artists. Geography and culture are universally recognized as significant influences on artists and their art, yet questions about the pertinence of gender are still being debated. This exhibition brought together the work of 10 female artists, from different parts of the world, and invited visitors to explore the question.
