Mary Henry:
The Later Years

Exhibition Statement

Work by Mary Henry in 2005, whose earlier work was featured in the Matriarchs exhibition, was featured at the Schneider Museum during this time. Born in 1913, Mary Henry was the living embodiment of nearly a century of innovative painting until her death in 2009. Her rational, ordered compositions are complimented with bold color schemes and precise arrangements that kept her work current and stimulating for over 60 years. Mary Henry is considered one of the foremost American modern painters, and a Northwest legend. Many thanks to the Bryan Ohno Gallery in Seattle, Washington, for the loan of work by Mary Henry.
